Cold Spring - Re: Keystone XL spill, without a pipeline, crude from the Bakken fields and the Alberta Tar sands traveled primarily through rail transport. Ask the people in Lac Megantic about this problem. Over 2 million gallons of crude spilled. Half a town wiped out and 47 people are dead, or the people of West Virginia where 378,000 gallons were released contaminating water for close to a million. No system is perfect but pipelines are safer.
