Cape May - Cape May City Council recently passed a parking meter rate increase making $2 per hour the standard rate, but only around the Washington Street Mall. This discriminates against my fellow mall merchants and we work hard to be successful and offer the tourists a positive experience. How does this increase fee solve the parking problems? The most amazing event was Council member Meier classified this 3-2 ordinance approval as, in his words, "a catastrophic success." Now that's a classic oxymoron, suitable for posterity.
