Avalon - I stopped in to hear the infamous Avalon court case Jan. 16, where the borough has sued a little old widow for letting ivy grow on some of her siding. This lady has been active in questioning Avalon Council and the mayor in killing hundreds of healthy trees, and allowing Avalon's high dunes to be partially destroyed. Fifteen citizens have watched this immense waste of money for two hours, and it's not close to done. $800 per hour for judge, clerk, code official, plus two cops. Already three hearings. What a waste.
